Guess what arrived today!
No. No. Not that either.
Yes, my new soldering iron!
I went with Andrew Martens’ suggestion in the end, because he had personal experience with it and he’s kind of my go-to guy for advice on this stuff.
So tonight should be either awesome or completely demoralizing! Either way, I promise an update once I’ve given it a whirl.
(And maybe someday I’ll get back to making songs instead of just geeking out.

The weight of responsibility comes crashing down upon my shoulders!
I should have reminded you to buy a couple space tips while you’re at it. Fortunately most electronics shops should carry them and they’re fairly inexpensive. A very fine pencil tip (700 degrees) is always a nice complement to the one that ships with the WTCPT.
I’m sure that iron will serve you for many years. A job I worked at a few years ago had a couple of those irons that had belonged to their head electronics guy. They had been very well used and were still in great shape.
